Pre-conception and reproductive reflexology /Fertility
It is estimated that 1 in 6 couples will experience fertility problems when trying to conceive
30% of these can be attributed to the female, 30% to the male and 30% to both. For 10%, infertility is unexplained.
Fertility reflexology can be very helpful for any couple who is struggling to conceive. It works in a number of ways to enhance your natural fertility, and is much more affordable and far less stressful than medical treatments. I appreciate the anxiety that may be felt if you have been trying and not been successful, each couples’ journey is different and I can offer a calm and supportive environment where you can talk confidentially.
I have received trained in Reproflexology™ (Reproductive Reflexology) which is a specialised form of Reflexology using a series of specific protocols to help with pre-conception. Regular treatments will also help to address and correct any underlying reasons which may impact on fertility such as and hormonal imbalances, it can help to;
- Improve physical conditions
- Manage anxiety and stress levels
- Help balance hormones
- Correct menstrual cycle irregularities
- It can also be used to support assisted conception such as IVF, Clomid, IUI and ICSI.
I advise that you keep track of your periods and ovulation using a diary or tracker app on our phone. – I recommend fertility friend.
Your first appointment is longer and will start with an in-depth consultation to discuss your health and lifestyle as there are several factors which many affect fertility such as weight, age and if you smoke but also lifestyle, diet and other factors will also play a part too. We will also discuss you gynaecological and pregnancy history and discuss any tests that you may have had and if appropriate we can discuss if you or your partner may need medical testing either through the NHS or privately. Ideally I would like to see both partners at this appointment.
This would then be followed by a relaxing reflexology treatment. Following on from this, if you are happy and comfortable with me and once we have an understanding of your cycle then we can create a treatment plan. I would then like to treat you weekly and then fortnightly as regular treatments are important to help support you during each phase of your menstrual cycle and in pregnancy.
Stress and Fertility
Stress plays a huge party on infertility as it is known to have a huge impact on our body. The hormones that are produced as a result of stress, adrenaline, cortisol, and nor-epinephrine will negatively affect our reproductive hormones which in turn makes it difficult to conceive. Reflexology is known to have a positive impact on stress on the body and will help to regulate itself and return to a balance stated.
These treatments are not only helpful for those trying to conceive but also for anyone suffering from menstrual irregularities such as;
- Heavy, painful or irregular periods
- Absence of periods (amenorrhoea)
- Menopausal symptoms.
- PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome)
